High-Performance Reflectors: Infrared and Ultraviolet Optimization
Whether metallic or ceramic, our reflectors direct infrared and ultraviolet energy with surgical precision toward the target area. This absolute control of radiation optimizes the overall energy efficiency of your installations while ensuring a perfectly uniform thermal diffusion.
Thanks to our cutting-edge engineering and our integrated sheet metal workshop in France (in Pont-à-Mousson), DR Fischer Europe offers comprehensive support ranging from design assistance to the creation of your custom prototypes.
The Strategic Role of Reflectors (IR & UV)
The efficiency of an industrial heating or drying system largely depends on the quality and geometry of its reflection.
Infrared Technology (IR): Our reflectors are designed to precisely direct energy toward the target area, optimizing efficiency while ensuring uniform thermal distribution.
Ultraviolet Technology (UV): Optimized reflectors allow UV radiation to be directed precisely toward the treatment area, significantly improving system efficiency as well as curing uniformity.
The Reflectors by DR. FISCHER Europe
The DR.FISCHER Standard
The efficiency of a heating, drying, or curing system largely depends on the quality and targeting of its reflection. To meet these radiation direction requirements, DR. FISCHER designs state-of-the-art reflectors adapted to every industrial need. Whether it is our aluminum technologies, our gold-coated versions, our white ceramic coatings “integrated reflector” (MLRI), or our patented innovation “proximity reflector” (LRP), each material is selected to maximize the useful flux.
As a historical light specialist, our core business lies in providing a complete optical solution: we directly pair these high-performance reflectors with our light sources, whether they are TWIN (double tube) IR lamps, low-pressure and medium-pressure UV lamps, or latest-generation LED systems. Together, they optimally meet radiation direction needs in key applications such as thermoforming, UV decontamination, lacquer and varnish drying, or large-surface thermal treatment.
Radiation Orientation: Specular vs. Diffuse
Depending on the nature of your industrial application, DR Fischer configures your systems with a specular reflector (targeted orientation) or a diffuse reflector (overall homogenization). Our workshop uses specific sheet metal finishes to perfectly adapt the photonic flux to your needs:
Highly Reflective Sheet Metal (Highly Polished): Maximum Focusing
The “highly polished” sheet metal is selected to design high-specularity reflectors. This material allows the light or thermal beam to be directed with very high precision toward a narrow target area.Hammered Sheet Metal: Diffusion and Uniformity
Conversely, hammered sheet metal features a faceted surface that breaks up direct beams in order to achieve a diffuse and perfectly uniform radiation.

Material Comparison
| Material | Reflectivity | Durability | Cost | Radiation direction | Main advantages | Main disadvantages |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | ★★★★★ | Poor | €€€€ | Specular |
- High reflectivity - No thermal inertia |
- Low temperature resistance (<600°C) - High cost |
| White ceramic | ★★★ | Very good | €€ | Diffuse | - Good price-performance ratio | - Reflectivity 10 to 15% lower than gold |
| MRI | ★★★★ | Very good | €€€ | Diffuse | - Reflectivity between white ceramic and gold | - Slightly more expensive and slightly less stable than white ceramic |
| LRP (patented ceramic) | ★★★★★ | Excellent | €€€€ | Specular |
- Best reflectivity on the market - Self-cleaning properties - Longer service life than other reflectors |
- High initial cost, but no replacement required together with the lamp - Thermal inertia present |
| Highly reflective aluminium | ★★★ | Good | €€€ | Specular or diffuse (depending on finish) | - Can be easily combined with other reflector types | - Additional component required, needing more space in the module |

The DR.FISCHER Production Site in Pont-à-Mousson
Our strength lies in the vertical integration of our production facilities in France. Thanks to our modern precision sheet metal workshop, we manufacture ready-to-use solutions adapted to the most severe thermal and photonic environments:
Dedicated R&D Contact and Consulting: You benefit from direct contact with our Research & Development (R&D) team. Our experts can advise you on choosing the optimal reflector(s), providing custom support for your most specific industrial needs.
Optical Design and Modeling (PH3D): Our engineers rely on proprietary software to calculate the perfect geometry of the reflector before manufacturing.
Laser Cutting & Precision Bending: We process aluminum and stainless steel in dimensions up to 3 x 1.5 meters, ensuring strict compliance with the calculated optical angles.
Assembly & Integration: Thanks to our expertise in sheet metal work, precision welding (traditional and laser), and insert installation, we supply not only the bare reflector but also heating modules and complete systems with hardened or insulated metal frames.
Our Core Business, Integrated Solutions: As a specialist and manufacturer of light sources, we offer a comprehensive solution by supplying our infrared lamps, ultraviolet (UV) lamps, or LED technologies directly paired with the ideal reflector for your application.
Optical Modeling & Numerical Simulation:
Precision Engineering
Prior to manufacturing, our engineers rely on advanced numerical simulation tools to design the perfect geometry for your reflectors and anticipate your systems’ performance:
Ray Tracing Simulation:
This method offers the advantage of requiring no prior measurement of a physical system. As a result, we can intervene at the very beginning of the design phase to optimize reflector shapes, validate distances to the product, and best guide your technical choices.
DIALux Simulation:
This tool allows us to integrate one or more previously measured light sources to accurately simulate radiation distribution over a surface (assessing uniformity, detecting cold spots, etc.).
This approach is particularly effective for complex configurations involving numerous sources: measuring just a single source is enough to keep calculation times highly reasonable, even for large-scale projects.
